Description
The project aims to design a passive isolated dwelling that can function and ensure comfort without the need for any climate system. It is located in Valls de Sant Muç, in Rubí, on a sloping plot overlooking the wooded area that borders the urbanization. The house is situated on one of the existing platforms, supported by a new wall that separates the two main levels, connected through an external staircase. Thus, the garden is configured with various spaces that revolve around the dwelling, at different levels.
The house seeks to address the program under a gable roof section, where two closed rectangular volumes with single-sloped roofs in opposite orientations are dislocated to form an L to complement the total volume with enclosed terraces with greenhouses.
The access to the house is solved through one of the intermediate spaces resulting from the displacement of the two bodies. Programmatically, the two volumes are articulated through an axis that contains circulation and storage, from which the wet cores are suspended, and it resolves access to all rooms. The first volume is configured as a single space that serves as a living room, dining room, and kitchen, completely surrounded by the exterior garden with views of the woods and fields. . The sloped roof of this volume allows for the construction of a loft above the kitchen space. The volume containing the bedrooms is perpendicular to the living room, opening up to the exterior space with a southeast orientation. It includes three non-hierarchical double bedrooms, two complete sanitary rooms, and a multipurpose space that integrates with circulation and storage, with a northwest-facing façade.
A dry construction system is chosen, using a lightweight timber frame structure that forms the facades and various interior enclosures.
The bioclimatic strategies designed to ensure thermal comfort without the need for any climate control system revolve around the efficiency of the thermal envelope, large openings in heat-absorbing facades, the thermal inertia of the floor, and ventilation control.
